Nelda Juanita Thames
Nelda Juanita Thames passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Merit River Oaks Hospital in Flowood. She was 69.
A native of Jayess, Mississippi and born July 30, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Vera Lambert Thames. She worked as a machinist with Vickers Aerospace Marine Division, now Sperry-Vickers, retiring with almost 30 years of service.
Nelda was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord Jesus foremost. She was a giving woman with a big heart that would give the shirt of her back to help another. She was loved and will be missed dearly.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her longtime companion of over 45 years, Bonnie Brock, in 2015, and her three sisters and five brothers.
She is survived by her son, Michael Juan Thames, of Magee; special niece, Stacey Palmer (Rodney Wright), of Richland; and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, 2018 at Grace Baptist Church, 155 Brandon Ave. in Richland, the Rev. Ronald Graves, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories in Florence.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. Following the graveside, the family wishes to invite everyone for food and fellowship in the Fellowship Hall of the Grace Baptist Church.
