Obituary for Roy Mark Watkins, Sr.
Mark Watkins, 69, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.
A native of Union, Mississippi, born November 10, 1948, he was the son of the late Opha Odell and Lillian Bridges Watkins. When Mark was young, the family moved to Jackson where he graduated from Provine High School, class of 1966. He attended Mississippi College and was a graduate of the LSU School of Banking.
Mark was employed with Deposit Guaranty National Bank for many years and later joined Ambank Services, Inc. as an owner before selling the company and retiring.
Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and occasionally telling people exactly what he thought (for better or worse), but most of all enjoyed time with his family and close friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Gill Watkins and John Watkins. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dane McCullen Watkins; sons: Chip Watkins (Monica), Scott Watkins, and Mitch Watkins (Ale); brother, Neil Watkins (Liz); sister, Mary Ann Dodd; sister-in-law, June Watkins; grandchildren: McKenzie Thatcher (Mac), Sarah Jordan Watkins, Kayli Cobb, Martin Cobb and Eva Beth Watkins.
Visitation will begin after 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Graveside services will follow at 12:00 Noon in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to French Camp Academy, One Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745 or to a charity of your choice.
